Arts Unlimited Southwest offers 4 weeks of camp incorporating songs, performing, musical games/activities, and team building exercises.


Story book Song 

Ages 3-5. Start date: TBA

This session blends music with interactive story- telling to foster the joy of reading and singing

Time:    TBA

Cost:     Free.  However, we gladly welcome parent sponsors or tax-deductible donations for this program.

Music for Tots

Ages 4-6. Start date: TBA

Children use their voices, bodies and rhythm instruments to explore elements of music while learning the fundamentals of ensemble singing and basic music notation.  Material for this class is comprised of folk songs, rounds, movie music, and dancing games.  Come share the fun!

Time:   Mondays: 10:30-11:10 a.m., Wednesdays: 5:30- 6:10 p.m.

Cost:    $20/Class

Music Together 

Ages 0 months-5 years. This is a 10-week program that begins September 28, 2016

In 40-minute long sessions, babies and their care-givers participate in a musical feast from various cultures, exploring different sounds and rhythms through singing, rhythm instruments, and movement.

Wednesdays: 10:30-11:15 a.m. at AUSW

Thursdays 5:30-6:15 p.m. at AUSW

Friday 9:00-9:45 at The Burleson Recreation Center (The Brick)

Cost: $15/session.  Ask about discounts for siblings and scholarships.

Besides offering adults opportunities to develop new skills in the area of art, we at Arts Unlimited Southwest dream that the art workshops will help practicing artists develop facility in various areas through collaboration with other artists in the field and generate an income for the participant.  We welcome your input in this process.

Music Fundamentals for Singers

The class “Fundamentals for Singers” is designed to equip participants with the musicianship skills necessary to become successful in choral activities.  Auditions will be used to determine the level of each participant.

Time:  First meeting, Tuesday September 16, 6:30 p.m.

Cost: $35/ month.  A singing lab will accompany this class.

Art Workshop (Start date: TBA)

  • Intro to making wire wrap jewelry.  

The course will include knowledge about the basic tools, gauges, shapes and tempers of wire used in wire jewelry making, and basic ring, pendant, and earring techniques as well as other skills that may be transferred to the making of other items. The cost of materials is included in the workshop fee. Come and learn this ancient art of making wire jewelry that is still used today. It could mean extra dollars in your pocket.

  • Cake decorating.
  • Graphic design. Introductory program: corel draw.  
  • Sewing and knitting.
  • Arts and crafts from various cultures. (ex. Molas from Panama)

Art: Painting and Drawing Start date: September

Classes will include study in color theory, landscape painting, seascapes, floral, still life, and techniques that include brush stroke and paint application. Classes will continue to expand and cover color usage, line, form, space and shape, texture, and value elements of painting. Acrylic paint will be the featured medium.

Additionally, the focus of classes entails overseeing a variety of styles and techniques made possible by the student’s continued educational expansion outside the classroom. Though it would not be required, the teacher will encourage students to grow their artistic visions by attending museums/gallery shows as well as extending interests into aspects of art history as it relates to their goals and desires.

Keyboard Classes (Private)

Keyboard classes will cover basic reading and rhythm skills and provide a more advanced curriculum to those that are ready for it.  Having access to a piano on a regular basis for daily practice is necessary for success in this course.

Time:   By appointment Mon – Wed (Each class is a half an hour or one hour in duration)

Cost:    $25/half an hour

New Horizons Band

Even if you have never played before, this band is for you.  You just choose the instrument, and come with your enthusiasm.  We’ll take it from there.  Others that have played before, perhaps in high school, are welcome too.

Time:   Wednesdays: 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Cost:    $35/per month

Guitar Jam (TBA)

This class encourages guitar players in the area to work with others that have more experience so that together they may build skills and camaraderie while playing for different events.

Guitar Classes – Group

This class helps you to build basic guitar skills.  More advanced players are also welcome.

Time:   Youth: Tuesdays 4:30 p.m.; Teens, 5:30 p.m.

Cost:    $20 per session (50 mins.)

Spanish and Music. 

Group Class. Start date TBA

In this class, singing the music of the people (folk music) will play an integral part in learning Spanish.  Sometimes, this music will serve as a spring board into the language learning process. Music and poetry may provide the structures and vocabulary for conversation building, and become a backdrop for grammar use in the present tense, past tense, future, etc. Even professionals may benefit from this course.

Voice Class for Kids (ages 7-9)

This class is for students who enjoy singing and want to learn songs while developing their musicianship skills in a safe supportive environment.  They will learn the elements of good singing (using the breath, diction, good tone production) and fundamentals of music notation through songs that are fun and age-appropriate.

Time:   Tuesdays & Thursdays:  4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

Cost:    $20 per session

Voiceworks (grades 4 and 5)

This is a fun-filled vocal ensemble designed to help students develop their vocal technique and musicianship skills. The music for this class is from popular and classical styles, and emphasis is on two-part singing, rounds and partner songs.  Students learn to sing various types of vocal music: ensemble, acapella, and musicals.  The supportive environment created in this class allows participants to build self-esteem and team spirit.

Time:   Tuesdays: 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Cost:    $20 per session

Group Piano Classes 

(Available upon Request)

This class will be offered to groups of four students at a time, and will cover basic reading and rhythm skills, as well as solo and ensemble playing.  Efforts will be made to reinforce rhythm and ear training concepts through games, duets and group improvisation.  Having a piano for practice purposes is necessary for this course.

Community Youth Band

Ages 10-17. Start date: TBA

During these sessions, students from beginner through intermediate levels build skills in wind, brass, and percussion instrument playing.  Students will also receive training in musicianship and ensemble performance while preparing to play for Jazz combos, concert bands, or symphonic bands. Singing will be incorporated into the sessions to enhance the musicianship of participants.

Time:   Thursdays 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Cost:    $20/Session (Group Rate)

Kanta Youth Ensemble

Ages 10-17. Start date: TBA

This community youth choir helps participants to build musicianship and vocal skills while exploring repertoire from different cultures.  Participants perform in various venues including: churches, retirement centers, children’s homes, and crisis centers across the state.

There may be one out-of-state trip during Spring.

Time:   Sundays, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Nolan River Mall, Suite 29)

Cost:    $35 per semester.  This cost includes music. However there may be an additional cost for travel.

Guitar Classes – Group

Classes help to build the development of basic guitar skills through varied repertoire.  Adjustments are made to further the development of more advanced players.

Time:   Youth: Tuesdays 4:30 p.m.; Teens:  5:30 p.m.

Cost:    $20 per session/50 minutes

Private lessons in Various Band Instruments, Piano, Guitar, *violin, *viola, *cello and Voice

These lessons are taught especially to enhance the skills of beginning students in the New Horizons Band for adults, and of others in the Community Youth Band.  During these lessons, students can advance more quickly, or at a slower pace in accordance with their needs. These are also available in one-hour blocks.

Composition Boot Camp. Summer 2016/2017

In 6 sessions spaced throughout the summer, artists in the field will connect with amateur composers and writers of all ages to strengthen their skills, help them find markets for their products and further their educational and vocational opportunities.

Music Together 

Music Together calls all babies and the adults who love them to share in a weekly musical adventure in class, at home, or riding in the car. In class, we set it all up, learning to sing music in different tonalities, meters, and rhythms, playing different percussion instruments and moving in time with the music from different cultures. In the process, adults and children bond and build bridges for present and future success. Join us for 6 weeks of pure fun!

They include piano, voice, guitar, strings and winds.  Sessions are available for adults and children.
